Course Description:

In this course, Lee-anne Chapple, PhD will describe the aspects of gastrointestinal dysfunction that occur during critical illness; review the gut microbial changes that occur during critical illness; and discuss the implications of the above changes on patient outcomes and management in clinical practice. Originally presented live at the 121st Abbott Nutrition Research Conference on September 27, 2023.

Dr Lee-anne Chapple is a dietitian with experience in clinical dietetics and research. She completed her PhD in 2017 through the University of Adelaide on nutritional intake and muscle wasting in patients admitted to the intensive care unit with traumatic brain injuries. Lee-anne Chapple is the Senior Critical Care Dietitian at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and a Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide in Adelaide, Australia.
